NASA - WALLOPS FLIGHT FACILITY, AIRCRAFT - MASS CASUALTY DRILL
On Wednesday, September 28, 2011 the NASA - Wallops Flight Facility conducted a large-scale Aircraft-Mass Casualty drill at the Wallops airport. The event Director was Kenny Volante, of the NASA- Wallops Safety Office; planning had been ongoing for several months. The Incident Commander was Captain 25 (D. Kulley). Numerous Wallops departments and several outside agencies assisted with the drill including: mutual-aid fire and EMS personnel from Stations 4 (Atlantic), Station 20 (Oak Hall), Station 2 (Greenbackville) and Station 3 (Chincoteague); and Lower Maryland Red Cross. The U.S. Navy also provided personnel to act as victims/patients during the drill. Overall, the drill was successful and will occur on an annual basis.
Fire & EMS units participating: (Wallops) Engines 25-3, 26-3, Ambulance 26-2, ARFF 25-11, 25-12; (Atlantic) Engine 4-6, Rescue 4, Tanker 4-7; (Oak Hall) Zone 20; (Greenbackville) Ambulance 2-1; and (Chincoteague) Engine 3-3.
