Commercial Structure Fire, Ray's Shanty - Wattsville

At 1602 hours on Monday, July 24, 2011, Stations 1 (New Church) and 4 (Atlantic) were alerted for a commercial fire alarm activation at 32157 Chincoteague Road, Ray's Shanty Restaurant. Upon arrival, personnel found a working fire and immediately requested an upgrade to a commercial structure fire. The upgrade was dispatched at 1609 hours, bringing Stations 3 (Chincoteague), 2 (Greenbackville), Worcester 100 (Pocomoke), 25 (Wallops) and 20 (Oak Hall). Command also special requested Station 7 (Parksley) for Air 7. The fire was contained to the bar area, however the building sustained smoke and water damage throughout. Command canceled Ladder 3 and Air 7 upon fire control. Chief 1 (H. Rowell) had Chincoteague Road command. Virginia State Police and V.D.O.T. were also on the scene. The fire in being investigated by VSP.
