MVC - LANKFORD HIGHWAY, INVOLVING VIRGINIA STATE TROOPER
On Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 10:07 hrs, Stations 14 (Cheriton), Station 15 (Cape Charles), 19 (Cape Charles Rescue), 31 (NCEMS), 13 (Community), Station 16 (Nassawadox) and EMS 1 were alerted for a MVC at 31398 Lankford Highway, near the intersection of Latimers Bluff Road in Cheriton. {A civilian passer-by had come upon the two-vehicle accident which involved a Virginia State Trooper, who was found unconscious. The civilian immediately called for assistance using the cruisers Radio}. Upon arrival, units requested aviation to respond and both Nightingale and Life-Evac were dispatched. Two patients were transported to area hospitals by air and one was transported by ground. Reports are that the State Trooper and the driver of the second vehicle suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The Virginia State Police (VSP) is investigating the accident and the Northampton County Sheriff's Office was also on location.
