Ultimately command requested additional resources including the Eastern Shore Region Hazmat Team, Regional Hazardous Materials Officer, V.D.O.T., and requested a cover-up (standby) assignment for Station 1. Also, a special request was made for alcohol resistant foam. The foam was sent from Salisbury Fire Department (Wicomico County, Md. - Station 16) and Ocean City Vol. Fire Company (Worcester County, Md. - Station 700 Headquarters). At approximately 0750 hrs, on Friday, October 7, command requested Station 2 (Greenbackville) to respond a Tanker, Station 7 (Parksley) for the county air trailer and requested the City of Chesapeake Fire Department to respond their foam unit. Upon the arrival of Chesapeake's Foam 1 and Engine 1, crews successfully transferred the trailers contents to an awaiting empty trailer; a process that took approximately 2 to 3 hours. During the incident, personnel had contained a leak of less than 20 gallons of alcohol. Personnel were also assisted by the Virginia State Police. The last fire and EMS units cleared the scene at 1623 hours.

Units operating on scene: (New Church) Rescue-Engine 1, Engine 1-4, Tanker 1-7, Brush 1 & Squad 1; (Oak Hall) Medic 201 & Zone 20; E.S.R.H.T. - Hazmat 1; (Greenbackville) Tanker 2-7 & Medic 2-1; (Parksley) Brush 7 & Air 7; (Chesapeake) Foam Support Unit, Foam Unit 1 and Engine 1. Both, Atlantic and Pocomoke units handled numerous other calls during the standby assignment.
