The Cheriton Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1948 by a group of civic-minded citizens in response to the Town's urgent need for a fire department. From our humble beginnings in a one-room, dirt floor barn, running a 1932 American-La France pumper, Station 14 has grown into the department it is today.  We are now a forty plus member front-line Fire Department that citizens can rely on for a fast, professional, first-alert emergency response service, covering over thirty square miles in lower Northampton County.

     CVFD also offers a number of different services for our neighbors: controlled burns for condemned properties, standby fire service for special events, fire prevention and educational programs for any organization and rental space in our new station for your special event.

     As an all-volunteer organization, we rely heavily on community support to maintain our equipment and training. Join us for our weekly Bingo, held every Tuesday at 7:30pm, or come out to one of our monthly dinners where you’re sure to get your fill of some of the best food around.  Make sure to attend our annual, Cheriton Day Event on August 7, 2010.  This year our event will include the annual Cheriton Parade, bake sales, yard sales, vendors, fun activities for the kids, and much more.
    
     Without the very generous support of our neighbors and friends, Cheriton Volunteer Fire Department could not exist. It is only through your assistance today that we can continue to stand ready to respond when you call tomorrow. From all the members of Station 14, thank you for your continued support.
