NEW DELIVERY - TANGIER ISLAND VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT

The Tangier Volunteer Fire Department of Tangier Island (Station 21), proudly announces that "Ambulance 21-2" was delivered and placed into service on Friday, December 30, 2011. The ambulance was built by Demers Ambulances of Beloeil, Quebec Canada and is placed on a 2012 Chevrolet G3500 chassis, powered by a gasoline motor. The unit was purchased through David Merritt, Ambulance Sales Manager for Winstead's Fire Equipment of Denton, Maryland. Some features include safety yellow grab bars, rear-vision safety camera, EVS attendant seat with built-in child safety seat, and a Whelen L.E.D. emergency lighting package. The radio installation was completed by Delmarva Two-way Radio, who also installed a Wilson dual band mobile wireless cell phone signal booster. The new ambulance replaced a 1994 Ford Van-style ambulance that the company traded in towards the purchase of the new unit.
