STRUCTURE FIRE ONANCOCK

On October 29, 2011 at 00:14 hours, Stations 9 (Onancock), 8 (Tasley), 18 (Onley) and 10 (Melfa) were dispatched for a residential structure fire at 32 North Street, in Onancock. Units arrived on location with fire showing from the rear of the structure and confirmed a working fire. Chief 9 (A. Warren) established North Street Command and requested Station 7 to be added to the assignment. Engine 9-5 laid a 5" LDH supply line from a hydrant and Engine-Tanker 18-4 made the hydrant connection. Once on location, Engine 103 was assigned R.I.T. After an aggresive interior attack, Command placed the situation under control at 01:21 hrs. All units were held on the scene for salvage and overhaul. The occupant had exited the residence without injury, prior to the arrival of the fire department.

Units on scene: (Onancock) Engine 9-5, Ambulances 9-1 & 9-2; (Onley) Engine-Tanker 18-4; (Melfa) Engine 103, (Parksley) Engine 7-5, Rehab 7, Brush 7, Ambulance 7-2; (Tasley) Engine 8-5, and Squad 8. The Onancock Police Department also assisted on the scene. The Virginia State Police is investigating the cause of the fire.
